Terms of Service

Effective date: the date this page was last updated (see below). By using the SCOUTS-AI Search API at https://scouts-ai.com you agree to these terms.

Plain English summary: this is a free, best-effort hobby service. Don't abuse it. Don't use it for anything illegal or harmful. We can change or stop it at any time. There is no warranty.

1. The service

SCOUTS-AI provides a single HTTP endpoint, GET /api/search, that returns public web search results normalized to a fixed JSON shape.

The service is provided free of charge, on a best-effort basis, with no uptime guarantee, no rate limit commitment at this time, and no support SLA.

We keep limited operational records for search calls as described in the privacy policy. Do not send secrets, credentials, or highly sensitive personal data as search queries.

2. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the service to:

Rate limits. The API applies a per-IP request limit (default 60 requests per minute). The exact value is documented in the API docs and may be changed at any time to protect the service. Exceeding the limit returns HTTP 429 with a Retry-After header. You must respect the limit and not attempt to bypass it (for example, by rotating source IPs in a way that violates the spirit of this clause).

We may throttle, block, or terminate your access at any time, with or without notice, at our sole discretion, if we believe you are violating these terms or if your use of the service is harming it for other users.

3. No warranty

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of results, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that results will be accurate, complete, current, or free from harmful content. Search results originate from third-party search providers and may contain misinformation, illegal content, or material you find offensive.

4. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator of SCOUTS-AI shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the service.

Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you have paid us for the service in the twelve months preceding the claim. Because the service is free, this cap is, in practice, zero.

5. Intellectual property

The SCOUTS-AI service code, branding, and documentation are owned by the operator. Search results are the property of their respective publishers; we do not claim ownership and we grant you no rights to them beyond the limited right to consume them via the API.

We respect copyright. If you believe a search result returned by the service infringes your copyright and you want it removed, contact us via the support page.

6. Changes to the service and these terms

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the service, in whole or in part, at any time and without notice. We may also update these terms. The current version of the terms is always published at this URL.

For non-trivial breaking changes to the API contract, we will publish a notice in the changelog. The deprecation window for breaking changes is at least 3 months from the announcement date, when feasible. We do not commit to this window during security incidents, provider outages, or genuine emergencies.

7. Termination and "exit plan"

If the service is shut down permanently, we will:

There are no accounts or user-owned datasets to export. Limited operational audit records may exist; deletion or access requests are handled through the process described in the privacy policy.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the operator's place of residence. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction. If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA, you retain the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence.
